WHATS IT LIKE TO RIDE?
If you talked to a few cyclist in Galway you will probably have heard of the Tour De Lough Corrib or also known as the Croi cycle, It has been going for 23 years now raising funds for Croi who are a Heart and stroke charity. The route starts from Galway city out the Headford road to Cong this stretch of the route is very flat and not much scenery till you pass headford and come into Cong which is home to Ashford Castle, From there you will head towards Cornamona and from here you have some rolling roads as you pass by some lakes and cut in between the hills the scenery is worth it you will make your way to the village of Maam where usually is a stop for food just before you tackle the climb up the maam valley its not steep climb and but is long so but not a really difficult gradient when you hit the top it's then downhill towards Maam Cross where you take a Left and head straight back into Galway city this route is a main road but when early enough traffic is good once you pass the village of Moycullen you will know you are nearly back in Galway city. It's a fun route to do on the day of the event but also if you are visiting the city when the event is not on you will find a lot of clubs and riders will usually do this route on a Sunday it's one of the popular routes when starting from the City.
