WHATS IT LIKE TO RIDE?
If you choose to do the route on the day of the event which is held every May then the town of Clifden is a buzz with close to 2000 cyclist and lots of fun.
The route itself starts of flat.Running along by the coast in places as you make your way to Maam Cross for a stop.
From there you head through the Maam Valley and into Leenaun, theres some climbing to be done on this section but the views you will come across will make it worth it.
Into Leenaun you will see the fjord and then cycle along it as you climb one of the toughest climbs on the route but well worth it, once you crest the top you have a nice decent and you pass by Kylemore Abbey in all its glory and continue onwards to Clifden once you pass the abbey you are nearly there, as you come to 10km or so from the town of clifden you have one final hill, it's not very long or steep but after 130km through the rolling roads of Connemara it will seem tougher than usual but from the top it's downhill to the Town where good food and a refreshing Beer is waiting.
